They can meet more people who he the好啊。
我考了4次托福,3次综合写作是GOOD(次是考的fail了)

Task:It has been said, “Not rything that is learned is contained in books.” Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books. In your opinion, which source is more important? Why?.
We all cre knowledge, especially in this Age of Information, but what is the best source of knowledge? Are we to beli Albert Camus, who stated” The place we are to get knowledge is in books”? Or are we better served by following Albert Einstein's counsel that “The only source of knowledge is experience”? Although books he their place in one's learning, there is no substitute for experience; indeed, it is experience that is ultimay the most important source of knowledge.
First, let us consider the knowledge needed to undertake a profession-for example, that of a physician. Knowledge gained from books provides the foundation of a doctor's training: study in a medical school begins with a near-overload of reading on anatomy, physiology and maladies both rare and common. Howr, during this time the medical student is also learning through experience, beginning with dissecting caders from almost the first day of medical school. Then, the aspiring physician must complete four years of residency, consisting of actual supervised experience at a hospital in which he or she now must put into pract all of the knowledge he or she has edge of dealing with patients, prescribing medication, and the joy and sadness of sing and losing patients; in other words, it is through experience that these residents finally learn what it means to be a doctor.
What about knowledge other than professional expertise-for example, knowledge about another culture? In this realm as well, both books and real-life experience enrich and edify us. For example, Paris is perhaps the most talked-about and written-about city in the world. We could read Hemingway's A Moveable Feast, in which he describes the excent and inlectual spirit-as well as the restaurants and plentiful red wine-of Paris in the 1920's. Or, we could trel to Paris and eat at bistros, walk across the Pont Neuf and look at the river Seine, visit the Louvre museum, and he aentures of our own. Clearly, most people would he attained more lasting and vivid knowledge by visiting Paris on their own rather than reading about it secondhand.
In summary, experience, rather than books, is more central to our quest for learning, especially with regard to professional expertise. With regard to learning about another culture, experience is also irreplaceable. Yet not ryone in the world will he the health or financial resources to carry out a trip to Paris. But many people he access to a local library where they can borrow A Moveable Feast and, at no cost, read Hemingway's vibrant descriptions of Paris. We cannot forget the complementary and unique knowledge afforded by books, but experience is the most precious source of knowledge.

Task:“When people succeed, it is because of hard work. Luck has nothing to do with success.” Do you agree or disagree with the quotation above? Use specific reasons and examples to explain your ition.
It is universally acknowledged that hard work is indispensable to success. Scientists toil for years before they make a major discovery. Students study for years before they are accepted by a top university. Self-make people work for a long time, n all their life before they make a fortune. Howr, less well-known is the essential role that luck plays in achieving one's goals. It is often luck that turns years of hard work into success: people discover and invent things with the of luck, and so do they become famous and find jobs.
First, luck has ed a great number of people invent and discover things. Sir Alexander Fleming experimented with antibacterial substances for nine years before he discovered penicillin. He went through laborious trial and error, but it was on account of luck that he looked at the mold on a piece of cheese and got the idea for penicillin there and then. Benjamin Franklin had been trying to prove his idea that lightning and electricity is the same thing, but it was only in flying a kite that he proved it and the concept of a lightning rod happened to strike him.
Also, luck s people become famous. Let us consider young authors. Many work hard to learn to write. For example, they take writing classes. Besides, they work at menial jobs so as to survive and gain experience. Then one day a lucky writer may he piece of writing published and attract public attention. Or the writer meets an editor at the right time and place. Years of continuous writing brings the writer to the door of success, but one lucky chance, like the shot in soccer, ntually s him or her reap success.
Finally, luck has ed many people secure jobs. One may spend much time writing and sending resumes, reading recruiting ads, and going to job interviews. One may pond the pement for a long time before getting a job. Howr, it is with luck that a job ter meets the person who will offer a ition to him or her, or learns of a vacancy that is not aertised. Being at the right place at the right time often s one land a job, and this has all to do with luck. One can hardly succeed without hard work, but hard work without luck often leads to nothing. Luck has a great number of people find success. In fact, luck goes hand in hand with hard work.

Task:Some people beli that university students should be required to attend classes. Others beli that going to classes should be optional for students. Which point of view do you agree with? Use specific reasons and examples to explain your ition.
Some people think that university students should be able to choose wher to go to classes or not. I could not disagree more with this idea. Even though students can he excused absences, for example, when they are sick or he soming emergent to attend, generally they should be required to go to classes. In fact, attending classes has many aantages, three of them most important: learning from the teacher, interacting with ctes, and dloping responsibility. Attending classes has the benefit of receiving the best that a teacher can offer. Good teachers review the difficult and key pints of the material in the course textbook. The best teachers do more than this. They conduct group discussion of the material, and present alternative points of view on the same issue. This increases students' real understanding and critical thinking.
Moreover, teachers supplement the textbook material with rmation provide by guest speakers, which further enhances students' understanding. All this implies that, if students are absent from class, it is tantamount to forfeiting their right to full benefits of teacher-guided learning in class. Going to classes also s students learn how to work with their ctes. In class, students need to put forward their ideas. They he to take questions from their ctes and when their ctes he a different point of view, they he to defend their own. All this is conducted in a friendly manner. Interaction of this kind teaches students about how to work with other people.
Finally, going to classes enables students to dlop responsibility. Hing to finish all the assigned readings before class s prepare them for getting a job. So does the requirement of being punctual for class. Similarly, hing to complete assignment on time for class s them to foster responsibility.
Admittedly, students can obtain rmation from books, but they benefit a great deal more when they go to classes. They he the aantage of learning from their teacher, of interacting with other people, and of dloping the responsibility required of a good worker as well as a good student. If these skills in life are in no sense optional, how can attending classes in a university be optional?

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Most experiences in our lives that seemed difficult at the time become valuable lessons for the future. Use reasons and specific examples to support our answer.

Some people argue that most experiences in our lives that seemed difficult at the time can later become valuable experiences. I cannot agree with them more. There are numerous reasons why I hold confidence on this opinion, and I would explore only a few primary ones here.
Difficulties are beneficial to our personal growth. In the course of our life, we will face numerous difficulties, and each difficulty will us grow up, and become a valuable lesson for the future. A toddler fells off the ground for many times before he knows how to walk, and a child learns how to swim after he drinks water in the swimming pool. In addition, only after we experienced failures, we know the value of success. We will nr appreciate anything that comes so easy. Difficulties can make us feel stronger and be more confident for the future obstacles.
Furthermore, difficulties in our work can us gain more experience and knowledge. Most of the times we can gain knowledge and experiences faster through experiencing difficulties in our life and trying to find a solutions to the perplexities that we face. There is a famous saying, "no pain no gain." For example, when we take on a new job that we do not he much experience in, the first few weeks can be extremely painful and we may feel enormous pressure and difficulties. And we will try our best to adjust, to learn and to think, how to do this job better. The more difficulties we feel, the harder we try to acquire the skills and knowledge to overcome it. Learning and this stage is extremely efficient and our problem solving skills well increase. After we overcome more and more problems, we can become an experienced worker in this field and will be able to take on more challenges. We will nr fear that we will face the same kind of problem again. This means that we he accumulated valuable experiences for the future.
In a word, a difficult experience is a gift that life gives us. We should appreciate it and take it as a precious opportunity to gain knowledge and experience about our study, work and life.

Why do people need to attend colleges or universities? Different people
he different answers to this question. I beli that the three most common
reasons are to prepare for a career, to he new experiences, and to increase
their knowledge of themselves and the world around them.
Career preparation is becoming more and more important to young people. For
many, this is the primary reason to go to college. They know that the job market
is competitive. At college, they can learn new skill for careers with a lot of
opportunities. This means careers, such as rmation technology, that are
expected to need a large workforce in the coming years.
Also, students go to colleges and universities to he new experiences.
This often means hing the opportunity to meet people different from those in
their hometowns. For most students, going to college is the first time they've
been away from home by themselves. In addition, this is the first time they've
bad to make decisions on their own. Making these decisions increases their
knowledge of themselves.
Besides looking for self-knowledge, people also attend a university or
college to expand their knowledge in subjects they find interesting. For many,
this will he their last chance for a long time to learn about soming that
I would recommend that people not be so focused on a career. They should go
to college to he new experiences and learn about themselves and the world they
live in.

People study in college or university for many different reasons. I think
the most important reason is to gain more knowledge and learn more skills. Of
course, there are also many other reasons that people study in college such as
to get more friends, and increase one's self-confidence.
These days, most jobs require people who are educated and he good job
skills. Therefore, the people who want a good job he to study hard and at
least graduate with a high education. Furthermore, as technology aances all
over the world, more and more education is required of people.
Some people who study in college or university want to make more friends
and increase their interpersonal skills. They enjoy their lives in university or
similar interests with themselves. They can go to uni ball after school and make
more friends who they trust.
The people who graduate from college seem more confident in our community.
These people are more respected by society. Many people want to be respected and
to be important by family, friends, their bosses, and others in their lives.
They find that most of them can confidently talk and do their jobs as they are
more educated. Therefore, most people want to get the confidence through the
university or college study.
In today's society, people need more knowledge and skills to be adapted.
The university and college study is a good way to achi this.

In China, more and more people try their best to attend college or
university. What are the reasons that make people long for it?
First of all, in my opinion, the most important reason is to gain
competence to live a better life in the future. Competition of our days has
become more and more drastic, and n a very job or low ition will
attract dreds of candidates to apply for it. Only those who he a good
education and general knowledge can gain better work. So, we should attend
college or university
for better competence.
Second, attending college or university can change our life. For example,
to myself, I am a student from countryside. I am one of the few people who can
attend college or university. Most of those who he not studied in college or
university go to work early in a all factory in a all town or on a farm in
their hometown. Just because I he taken higher education, I can get better
chances to study or work in the capital of our country where a lot of people
want to go to. Why? Good education gives me chances to change my life.
The third reason for attending a college is to increase knowledge. Study is
a so interesting thing that it make our life rich and colorful. It expands our
eyesight by rming us with lots of new things what we cannot gain from our
common life or experience. On the other hand, by attending college or
university, you can learn the knowledge or skill necessary for your future
work.
People attend college or university for various reasons. Some may attend
for new experiences, and others may think about other things. What I he
mentioned is just very few of them.

Second, an university education usually make it sible that we acquire a

People attend a college or a university for the following reasons, to
acquire knowledge which is necessary for a career, to contribute to the society,
and to experience life.
First三、引出争议的句式ly college education is a necessary step for a person who wants to
start a career in science and technology areas. If a student wants to become a
scientist, it is important for him to go to a science school; if he wants to be
an engineer, an engineering school is the best place for him.
There is no other place than a college where a student can get
sophisticated education in order to be qualified to become a professional in a
specific area.
Secondly, a college education can benefit both the society and the student.
By attending college one can get himself prepared for and contribute to the
society, which seems to demand aanced knowledge more and more. One the other
hand, as knowledge plays a very important role in today’s economy, it has also
become the capital and asset of the person who owns it: a college education can
bring wealth not only to the society, but also benefit the individual who
processes it.
In addition, college education is a wonderful experience in one’s life.
Only in a college one can be taught by the finest scholars and meet with the
most int people in the nation. Education can also bring happiness to the
student. When a student has conquered a difficult mathematical problem, he
sors the joy which learning has brought to him, and feels that he is the
happiest man in the world.
Of course, learning in a campus does not mean as much for rybody, but it
does mean a lot to me. I was brought up in a knowledge-respecting family. My
farther is an engineer and my mother is a teacher in a primary school. They are
both university graduates. My father, being the most influential person in my
life and the son of a poor Chinese farmer, did change the destiny of his own by
learning hard to earn a university degree. Therefore he firmly belis that
“knowledge can change one’s destiny and university is the best place to achi
one’s goal”. Of course this influenced me. I strongly beli that attending
university is the best cho for me. I do not he a bit of hesitation to
attend a university.

主要采用打字;
学生平均分:20;
备考要点:学习英文写作论证方法加上积累地道素材与精修作文;
A foreign student who plans to come to the United States must he some definite goals in mind. For the student who wants to improve his English quickly and learn about American customs firsthand, there is often an opportunity to live with an American family. There may be one or two disaantages to this living arrangement; howr, I beli that there are far more aantages.First of all, some minor disaantages to living with an American family include both a lack of privacy and little opportunity to he independence (be independent). For instance, the foreign student may find that the family expects him to join them in group activities such as watching evision and going on picnics. At times, howr, he might enjoy staying in his room to read or to write letters to his family and friends. Another drawback to living in an American home involves the sibility that the family may treat the student like a child. For example, the parents may want to decide who his friends will be and where he will go during his leisure time away from home.Even though there may be one or two disaantages to living with an American family, the aantages far outweigh them. By taking part in a home-stay program, the student has an excellent opportunity to learn about American customs. He will find out how to behe in different social situations such as parties and serimonies (ceremonies) and how to dress (dress on) these occasions. Also, he will learn about many other aspects of the American way of life, such as the way schools are run in the United States. With a family lose by, he can ask questions about attendance rules and school costs. The family will make certain that he becomes acquainted with this new way of life, and soon he will feel at home.Another aantage to lining with an American family is that the student is in an ideal environment to improve his English. For example, each time he has a conversation with someone in the family, this native speaker can him with his pronounciation (pronunciation) and grammer (grammar). Maybe the younger children in the family can the student with his homework, too. But the most important thing is that he will be surround (surrounded) by English most of the time during his stay in the United States.Although I agree that there may be a couple of disaantages to living with an American family, I feel that the aantages are more obvious. In a home-stay program, the student can learn about American customs in the most natural way sible. In addition, he will find himself in an atmosphere in which his English will certainly improve. In my opinion, these are the two most important goals for him to consider, and living with an American family is the best way to achi them.

If the foreign student at first realizes the values of learning about a new culture and improving his English at the same time, he will definiy choose to experience a home-stay in the United States. With an American family, he will find studying there a very big (rewarding) experience.
After a foreign student has decided to come to the United States to study English, he must think about where (where he) is going to live and with whom. I beli that he should live with (an) American family if he can becuase (because) they can give him the support (that) he needs. They can him improve his English, too.To begin with, the foreigner who inhabits (lives) with an American family can rely on them for suprot (support) as he adjusts to a complete (compley) new way of life. Supe that (This is especially ful if) he becomes homesick.Another aantage to living with an American family is (that) the student can improve his English quick (quickly). He will met (meet) friends who came (come) to visit. he (He ) will force (be forced) to use English wher he wants to or not.As far as disaantages are concerned, I see only one (one:) he may be treated like a baby. The family (family will) want to protect him from er (erous) situations.I will conclude by saying that n is the student has to put up (with) being treated like a child sometimes, he is better off the live (living) with an American family which they (who) can home. He will find kindness and support when he is new in the country. Also, he will speak English most of the time.
A foreing (foreign) student studying in America is wise to live with an American family because when a foreing (foreign) student came (comes) to the United States he must make many important adjustment (adjustments). A foreing (foreign) student must change to survive in his new imvironment (environment). A foreing (foreign) student also learns how to take on responsibilities concerning his new family, he (; he) adopts (adapts) to their American life style (lifestyle) as they adopt (adapt) to his. It is a learning experience on both parts. You he a (A student has an) aantage when living (he lives) with an American family. Because (because) they would (he will) learn the american (American) ways and customs better with an american (American) family than if they would live (he lived) with there (his) own homeboys (countrymen). The american (American) family becomes a second family to the foreing (foreign) student. At times a foreing (foreign) student may get homesick; but hing (hing) a trustworthy second family can give him the security and acceptance he (that he) needs. He is probably use (used) to hing a family around him, so he will feel safe if he lives with an American family. Then he must consider that he will be in a strange place. Everything will be new to you (him). His American family can him learn his way around. So (Therefore) foreing (a foreign student) is art to live with an American family.
My opinion about this subject is that it depends in (on) your ll of comprehension regard (regarding) conversational english (English). In other words; (words,) if you understand a considerable amount of english (English) language, your best bet would be to chose (choose) living with an American family. But, if your comprehension ll is so low, in which (that) a basic communication is not sible, then (it) would be wise to (for) you to choose living with people of your same country and (or) language.
